Explication

The ～んです grammar point is used to provide an explanation or reason for a situation or action. It can be translated as 'it is that', 'the thing is', or 'the reason is' in English.

Structure

Verb-casual + んです, い-Adjective + んです, な-Adjective + なんです, Noun + んです
Verb-casual + んですThe casual form of the verb followed by んです.
Exemples: 遅れたんですが、電車が遅れました。Okuretan desuga, densha ga okuremashita.
い-Adjective + んですAn い-adjective directly followed by んです.
Exemples: 疲れたんです。Tsukareta n desu.
な-Adjective + なんですA な-adjective followed by なんです.
Exemples: 彼は優しいんです。Kare wa yasashii n desu.
Noun + んですA noun directly followed by んです.
