To say where something or someone is, use the pattern “Place に Noun が います/あります.” The particle に marks the location, and います/あります shows existence. Key points: • Place に marks where something is • います for living things, あります for non-living things • Basic pattern: Place に + Noun が + います/あります • Very common for describing locations Example: “部屋に猫がいます” means “There is a cat in the room.” “机の上にペンがあります” means “There is a pen on the desk.” This is a core structure in Japanese. Use it to describe your surroundings: 家に人がいます, 冷蔵庫にジュースがあります. Remember that に is used for location in existence sentences, while で is used for location of action.
