The negative form of い-adjectives is used to say something is not true. To make the negative, change the final い to くない. Key points: • い-adjective negative: い → くない • Add です for politeness: 高くないです • Used for present/future negative • Same pattern for all い-adjectives For example, “高い” becomes “高くない” (not expensive). “暑い” becomes “暑くない” (not hot). You can say “この店は高くないです” to mean “This shop is not expensive.” Remember: you do not use ではありません with い-adjectives. Use くない instead. Practice with common adjectives: 安い → 安くない, おいしい → おいしくない, 大きい → 大きくない.
