Explication

い-adjectives are adjectives that end in い in their basic form, such as たかい (expensive/high), おいしい (delicious), or おもしろい (interesting). They can directly describe a noun or end a sentence. Key points: • い-adjectives end in い in the dictionary form • They can go before nouns: おいしいパン • They can end a polite sentence with です: おいしいです • You do not add な before a noun To say “This book is interesting,” you can say “この本はおもしろいです.” The adjective itself stays the same in the present. You just add です to make it polite. Because い-adjectives already have the “be” meaning inside them, you do not use です like a verb. You simply add it as a polite ending. This is different from nouns or な-adjectives, which require です to be a sentence. For beginners, remember: if it ends in い (like たかい, あつい, さむい), it is usually an い-adjective. Use it before a noun without な, or at the end with です. This gives you a quick way to make polite descriptions.
